1Getting Started  


This chapter defines key terms and describes preliminary procedures you must perform before installing or upgrading to an OpenVMS Alpha operating system, or installing an OpenVMS I64 system.
NoteThroughout this book, examples are taken from OpenVMS Alpha installations or upgrades except where stated otherwise. OpenVMS DCL commands are in UPPERCASE, while HP Integrity servers (Itanium®-based systems) console commands are in lowercase.
