OpenVMS system backups from UNIX?

» close window

The Question is:

How do I go about using my Digital Unix AlphaServer 1000 (model 5/400)to back
up the files that are currently being backed-up by the OpenVMS?

The Answer is :

  Converting the UNIX system over to OpenVMS, and clustering it, would
  certainly be among the most convenient approaches. :-)

  UNIX does not understand the OpenVMS native file structure, so to use
  a UNIX system to back up an OpenVMS system you will likely need to
  locate and load a client-server BACKUP package.

  As one possible option, take a look at the available Archive Backup
  package for OpenVMS.
