DCPS, Postscript, and the Alpha parallel port?

» close window

The Question is:

I have an HPLaserJet 4M which supports Postscript
attached to the parallel port of the Alphaworkstation.
The port is LRA0: I have been successful in getting this
printer to work using just TEXT output and the PCL emulation
of this printer. I have not been able to get the
printer to properly print a PostScript file. An application
that I use, outputs graphics screens as a postscript file.

I tried defining the queue using the OPS$HP_LASERJET.TLB
library file, I have also tried using NO library file
on the queue, and forcing the printer into Postscript mode.

I keep getting Postscript errors during output.

Can you lead me in the correct direction to overcome
this problem. Do I need a different driver for the
Queue? Please Help!

The Answer is :

DCPS does not currently support connections via the Alpha parallel port.
The typical solutions involve serial, LAT, and (with recent versions
of DCPS) IP connections to the PostScript printer.

If you would like to see this support added, please contact your local
reseller, account manager, or the folks at the customer support center.
