reading BACKUP savesets on other platforms?

» close window

The Question is:

Running VMS 5.5 on VAX 4000 Model 60.

In a reply to a question (July 2, 1998) concerning "Reading BACKUP savesets
on NT" you mentioned that "there are various third-party packages and/or
freeware tools that may/will be able to read OpenVMS BACKUP savesets on
other platforms."

Could please provide some names for the third party packages and freeware
that enable users to restore files from VMS backup tapes using an NT
platform.

Thanks, John Stagich

The Answer is :

The Wizard is not in a position to recommend a specific product.

Please visit the http://www.dejanews.com/ or INFO-VAX newsgroup archives,
and search for previous discussions of this topic, and for recommendations
  of users of these packages.

Hunter Goatley submitted one BACKUP saveset reader to DECUS.
Also look around for Barry Suskind's (or other) version VMSBACKUP.
There may well be commercial packages available as well.
