The Question is: i have just inherited a Microvax II and wish to find out what the current hardware configuration is with out openning it up, Is there a command similar to License /full that will summarise the hardware configuration ? The Answer is : The current hardware configuration is most easily and best determined by opening the MicroVAX II system enclosure, and determining which controllers are present in the system. Most controllers have an "M" number stamped on the spine of the Q-bus card, or included in the module etch. Looking at the "M" number on the spine also means there is usually no reason to remove the module from the Q-bus. The KA630 CPU uses the "M" number M7606, the MS630 memory modules use M7607, M7608, and M7609, the TQK50 controller uses M7546, etc. Based on this list, and on information at websites referenced by the OpenVMS Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ), you can likely determine which Q-bus controllers are present in the system.
