DECnet Phase IV vs DECnet-Plus on V7.1?

» close window

The Question is:

Can Decnet phase 4 still be installed on VMS 7.1 on an alpha?

If so what needs to be done?

The alpha is a new 4100 and has a FIS DECNet plus installation on it. DO I
need to get rid of this first?

The Answer is :

DECnet Phase IV can be installed on OpenVMS Alpha V7.1.

You will need to boot the system from the distribution CD-ROM, and
then issue a PRODUCT RECONFIGURE OPENVMS (to remove a dependency on
DECnet-Plus by OpenVMS) and then a PRODUCT REMOVE of the existing
DECnet-Plus, if you wish to revert to DECnet Phase IV.

As a general recommendation, the Wizard strongly recommends reading
the installation and upgrade manual, the new features manual, and the
  release notes manual.

Information on necessary support contracts for DECnet Phase IV on
OpenVMS V7.1 is included in the associated product documentation.
