Remote file sharing via NFS?

» close window

The Question is:

Is it possible to utilize UCX NFS to implement remote file sharing between
an OpenVMS host and a Windows NT server?

The Answer is :

The PATHWORKS and SAMBA packages are available and they allow remote file
access. With the installation of an NFS client on the Windows NT system
(TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS include both the client and the server for
OpenVMS), one can perform remote file access using the NFS protocol.

Remote file-level sharing is not available, as Windows NT does not
presently include any file-level locking support -- none of the
  abovementioned packages support it.
