Are there any benchmark programs available in order to evaluate performance
of VAXs and Alphas hardware and of OpenVMS installations on these platforms?
 
 

The Answer is :

 
  Yes, there are a number of tools that are reputedly able to measure and
  compare system performance, and there are various standard benchmarks
  around -- an example of the latter would be the SPEC suite.
 
  But unless you are in the business of writing benchmarks, likely the best
  available benchmark will be your particular application(s) -- even if you
  choose carefully, the benchmark may not correctly reflect the performance
