The Question is:

 
Can you have a Cluster over a switch ethernet connection? If so are there
specific settings needed?

The Answer is :

 
  OpenVMS is oblivious to the existance of a switched Ethernet connection.
  No specific settings are required -- much like an Ethernet bridge, a
  switched Ethernet connection is transparent to all network traffic.
 
  (This assumes the switch hardware has full Ethernet bandwidth and no
  more than the typically expected levels of latency, of course.)
