UltraSCSI on AlphaServer 8400?

» close window

The Question is:

Does an OpenVMS Cluster, formed by two alphaserver
8400, supports ULTRAScsi adapters?

Thanks in advance.

The Answer is :

  On V7.1-1H1 and later, yes.

An OpenVMS Cluster often uses a variety of interconnects. Some of the
interconnects are used for both storage I/O and for internode cluster
communications -- Ethernet and CI are examples of these interconnects
-- while other interconnects are used only for storage I/O -- SCSI and
KFQSA-based DSSI are examples. In other words, you will need one or
more interconnects -- such as CI, Fast Ethernet, FDDI, Memory Channel,
or otherwise -- in addition to the UltraSCSI dual-host interconnect.

On OpenVMS Alpha V6.2-1H3, with an available ECO kit, various directly
connected UltraSCSI controllers and storage are supported for use in
single-host SCSI configurations. Multi-host UltraSCSI configurations
require the V7.1-1H1 or later release.
