insufficient disk quotas for file transfers?

» close window

The Question is:

Hello, I use a dial-up modem connection to a
VAX/VMS 5.5 operating system, and through
my account I can use Lynx browser. I don't have
too much space on my account and I want every
byte that arrives to my account to come directly
home (through a ZMODEM transfer). I have a
SZ program. Can a batch file be used, or to tell
the system, that my default working space is not
my account's , but to use SZ to transfer them
home. If this is not possible, how can I use or
emulate a SLIP/PPP conection by just typing
smth. at my prompt. Thank you in advance.

The Answer is :

The Wizard is not in a position to provide recommendations on these
site-specific tools -- these tools not part of OpenVMS, and the Wizard
is not particularly familiar with these tools nor with your local system
  and network configuration.

With OpenVMS V7.1 and recent versions of TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS
(UCX), you can use PPP or similar. Prior to these versions, you can
use PPP or SLIP via terminal servers.

Please contact your site system manager for assistance in configurating
the OpenVMS system, and in the necessary system upgrades and such.
You may also want to contact the system manager concerning acquiring
additional disk storage or disk storage quota.
