» close window

The Question is:

Hi,

We have got 9 x RZ1DF disk drives, which is 9.1 GB installed on the
storageworks BA356 and using the RAID 230/plus controller. However, when I
checked the device information from the Raid 230 Configuration utility, it
is only show the disk capacity of 867
6MB.

Can someone please explain why.

Thanks,

Hinh Tran

The Answer is :

Please contact the customer support center or the StorageWorks support
team, as this question is well outside the purview of the OpenVMS Wizard.

Be aware that there are two definitions of the powers of ten, the base
two version and the base ten version. For instance, one gigabyte in
base ten is 10^9 bytes, while in base two it is 2^30. In this case,
9.1*10^9 is approximately equal to 8.678*2^30. OpenVMS and various
other operating systems generally use the base two representation, while
the industry storage standards for representing storage capacity generally
  use the base ten version.
