Valid characters in an OpenVMS Password?

Need clarification as to what characters can be used in a password.
For example, 26 chars, 0-9, !@#$%^&*()_+:"

The Answer is :

Legal VMS password characters are:
 
	$_0123456789ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
 
and lower case variants of the letters.
 
When External Authentication is used in V7.1 and later, the rules for
legal password characters are determined by the External Authentication
agent (Microsoft rules for V7.1 and V7.2).
