TCP/IP (UCX) LPRSETUP?

» close window

The Question is:

I am trying to setup IP printing in VMS 6.2. I have the queue printing to
the printer but I am not getting a cr with my line feeds, therefore I only
get a line or two on my Lexmark Laser Jet before the letters scroll off the
page. On my other two Alphaser
vers, when I run LPRsetup, I get a choice of cr on or off on my symbols.
Those machines are running UCX V4.1. The machine I am trying to setup now
does not giv me a choice of CR on or off in lprsetup. The version of UCX is
3.3. Is there a symbol libary so
mewhere that I can edit or will I have to upgrade to V4.1? Thanks for your
help.

Also, what does it mean when you do a sho system and it says "swapped out"
under the CPU heading?

The Answer is :

Upgrade to a more recent version of TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS (UCX),
with the associated ECO kit. If this does not resolve the reported
performance problem, please contact the customer support center.

"Swapped out" indicates that OpenVMS has decided that there are better
uses for the physical memory that the particular process would otherwise
occupy. This can indicate anything from an entirely normal and expected
situation, to a system with insufficient memory, to a system with some
  "unusual" SYSGEN tuning.

OpenVMS uses several different mechanisms to free up physical memory for
use by other processes, and outswapping is one. For details on this,
please see the OpenVMS VAX and the OpenVMS Alpha version of the Internals
  and Data Structures Manual (IDSM).

And again, this can be entirely normal and expected behaviour -- on the
local system, there are presently roughly a half-dozen such processes
swapped out, and this is an entirely normal (and even beneficial) memory
  management situation.
