Windows NT Clusters? Remote Disk Access?

» close window

The Question is:

Some of the applications that we use are currently on VMS. The application
vendor has informed us that it will not be supporting VMS anymore and we
need to move to NT.

Is there such a thing as a mixed OVMS-NT Cluster?

If not what is the best way that an NT node and a VMS node can share its
disk resources. We currently use NFS but would like something faster and
more reliable?

Any information you have in this area I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank You

The Answer is :

There is no support for a mixed cluster involving Windows NT, and
Windows NT "cluster" system currently have relatively few and rather
primitive "cluster" capabilities, and are not even remotely similar
to the capability and the scalability of an OpenVMS Cluster.

For coexistance with Windows NT systems, the Wizard would recommend
looking at the "Affinity" packages, and at the NTDS Windows NT Disk
Services package -- NTDS is part of the Affinity suite. Information
on Affinity and NTDS is available at http://www.openvms.digital.com/.
