The Question is:

Hi, our small company got bought out by a bigger one. Now our Vax 6630
along with the ethernet equipment is sitting in a room next to our new
company's WAN equipment. We use pathworks and lat / decnet.
They want us to install TCP/IP on the VAX. I will probably get the software
from Process Software.
What I'm unsure of is how to connect our Ethernet to Theirs.
They have a bunch of Synoptics Lattis Hubs and a couple Baynetwork Backbone
nodes that route to the WAN.
I don't want to mess up their WAN with Lat and Decnet noise. I just want
TCP/IP to pass between the two.
Do I need some kind of switch???? any ideas???

thanks, jim

The Wizard is somewhat familiar with that feeling.

The OpenVMS Wizard would strongly recommend evaluating a current version
of Digital TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS (UCX) for its capabilities. In
particular, look at what is available now in V4.2, and what is expected
  in the upcoming V5.0 release.

Use a bridge, brouter, or switch.
