LJ250 on Windows NT?

» close window

The Question is:

Our customer is currently using a LJ250 colour printer on a DEC PDP-11. Do
you know of any drivers that will allow it to be used on a Windownd NT
system?
I know its not about VHS !

The Answer is :

The LJ250 will operate from HP Paintjet drivers, but it's very slow. You
can use the Win 3.1 driver "Digital LJ250/252" to drive the printer in
"DEC" mode which is much faster. Use the printer setup wizard, click
"have disk" and give it "Windows Ver 3.1 Disk 5" Choose the Digital
"LJ250/252" driver. When it asks for GENDRV.DLL give it "Windows Ver 3.1
Disk 6", it will then ask for LJ250.DRV - go back to disk 5.

This driver is much faster than the Win95 HP one (at least for the test
page). However, it's settings are more limited. I suspect you may get
better colour matching from the newer driver. If you install both
drivers, don't forget to change the dip switch to match the driver
    you're using.

Not having used this type of printer with an NT system, the wizard doesn't
know if the above will work.

Although this is not a VMS question, the wizard has looked favorably on
you since you have a PDP-11. Don't push your luck or the wizard will be
forced to turn all your computers into TRS80s!
