CDD, DATATRIEVE, and Moving to OpenVMS Alpha?

» close window

The Question is:

I'm trying to convert Datatrieve on Vax (5.3) to Alpha(7.1). The book says
simply to copy the procedures over and bam it works. My question is where
are they. I have copied my CDD$DICTIONARY . The files refered to in that
location and made the logi
cal on Alpha and my dictionaries are not there when I go in Datatrieve.
Are there more files or other actions that need to be done?

thanks.

The Answer is :

Please contact the customer support center for assistance -- there
is not enough information here to make the answer obvious to the
  OpenVMS Wizard.

The Common Data Dictionary (CDD; now an Oracle product) contains the
data definitions, and various other constructs used by DATATRIEVE.
(Recent versions of DATATRIEVE can operate without CDD, as well.)

The DATATRIEVE procedures themselves can exist in most any of a
variety of locations on the local disk.
