Troubleshooting RWMBX and RWCSV states?

» close window

The Question is:

How to troubleshoot a process in RWMBX and RWCSV ?

The Answer is :

Start with cleaning out any unnecessary dreck in MODPARAMS.DAT and
performing an AUTOGEN pass with a reboot. Use the FEEDBACK information
if you have it. Perform periodic passes. This can help resolve tuning
  problems.

Have a look at the performance management manual in the OpenVMS
documentation set. The information in this manual can help you locate
a hardware, OpenVMS, and/or application performance limitation, and can
provide you with suggestions for resolving the bottleneck.

As for specifics of what these states are -- these are resource waits for
a mailbox and for the cluster server -- please see the OpenVMS Internals
and Data Structures Manuals. This can point to resource or pool limits,
to application problems, to cluster or network problems, or to various
  other potential trouble areas.

As for suggestions on how to resolve these processes, please see the
DECamds support included with more recent versions of OpenVMS. The
DECamds kits can be installed on earlier versions -- V5.5-2 is rather
old, however. OpenVMS VAX V7.1 is current.
