Configuring TCP/IP (UCX) lpr/lpd?

» close window

The Question is:

TCP/IP printing from VMS to Win NT.

Our company specialises in selling an electronic forms package called
Autoform.

Our system usually runs on a Windows NT server, and receives print jobs from
AS400 or various flavours of UNIX using LPR/LPD.
NT provides the LPD if the service is installed, and the host printer setup
needs to specify NT IP address and remote q name on NT server.

A potential customer has approached us and asked if we can attach to his
VAX VMS system.

By reading some of the previous responses, I can see that this should
possible.

Please can you advise on steps to set up such a queue, and min O/S
requirements (e.g. UCX V4.1 or better )

TIA

The Answer is :

Please see the existing discussions of setting up lpr/lpd queues
using TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS. If these -- and the associated
TCP/IP Services product documentation -- prove insufficient, please
  contact the customer support center.

The Wizard would recommend using the TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS
V4.1 or V4.2 package, with the associated current ECO kit.
