Multiple Database Interoperation?

The Question is:

Wizards

Is there a 'direct route' (as opposed to middleware) to get an Oracle
database on a Unix(V4.0) Alpha box to communicate with RMS files on a VAX
(V5.5-2)? The context is a sleep/wake process which pushes data into the
RMS files, ultimately pulling result
data back into the Oracle database.
Middleware options e.g. ConnX, seem to require a server box sitting between
the Alpha and the VAX.
Thanks for your help/time.

The Answer is :

It would appear you already have a direct route, and you have not
indicated to the Wizard what additional feature(s) you would like,
beyond what you have already implemented.

ODBC tools -- allowing remote access to RMS files from remote systems
using ODBC -- are available for OpenVMS. (These ODBC RMS tools have
been discussed here in Ask The Wizard previously.)

RPC and COM tools are also additional communications options that are
or will soon be available on OpenVMS. OLE DB is not presently available
  on OpenVMS.

Also please check with Oracle for suggestions. Packages such as
DB Integrator may be of interest.
