Callable TCP/IP (UCX) TN3270 interface?

» close window

The Question is:

I have a communications driver on an older VAX/VMS 5.5-2 system that
creates, maps and opens a LAT port that connects a DECserver port to an IBM
system via hardware emulator (7171) to provide 3270 passthru for an
automated application. (whew! long sentenc
e) The driver is written to support all asynch I/O.

The VAX is going away and is replaced by an Alpha/OpenVMS 7.1 system w/UCX
4.1. I have to port this comm driver to the Alpha to support a connection
to the IBM via the UCX TN3270 client thru a TN3270 Server (cisco).
Everything must be TCP/IP as LAT and
DECservers are being retired.

Can you point me to documentation to detail how to open and write to the UCX
TN3270 driver directly, with the necessary terminal modifiers, for 3278 Mod
2 support, etc.? I can't find it in the normal UCX doc set.

Regards,

Charlie

The Answer is :

The Wizard is unaware of a callable TN3270 interface in TCP/IP Services
  for OpenVMS (UCX).

The Wizard would strongly recommend replacing the use of the 3270
(user terminal) protocol with a (different) communications protocol
that can perform the necessary operations.
