Sending OPCOMs to a printer via IP? (telnet)

» close window

The Question is:

We have a new Alph4100 installation and would
like OPCOM messages to be displayed to a
hardcopy printer, LA30 (with a NIC card and IP
address) which is outside the computer room.
I've tried to create a service under UCX to do
this but am at a loss. Any help or suggestions
would be welcome.

Thanks,

Terry Lykens

The Answer is :

You will need to configure reverse (outbound) telnet as described
elsewhere in Ask The Wizard, and use the technique of enabling a
device as an operator terminal referenced in the OpenVMS Frequently
Asked Questions (FAQ) section around enabling another terminal as
an operator terminal (enabling OPA0:, in the case of the FAQ, or a
  telnet terminal in your situation).
