Configuring TCP/IP (UCX) NTP?

» close window

The Question is:

How do I connect my OpenVMS system to a public NTP time server like
clepsydra.dec.com?

The Answer is :

Please see the existing discussions on configuring NTP (particularly
how to configure an NTP provider if that is of interest), and please
also see the TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS (UCX) documentation on NTP.

There is a section in the UCX documentation that covers how to quickly
and correctly configure NTP on UCX. Also please see the UCX example
  file SYS$SPECIFIC:[UCX$NTP]UCX$NTP.TEMPLATE.

One of the more interesting web sites for folks working with NTP,
including an NTP FAQ and a wealth of other information, is at the URL:

    http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~ntp/

Recent versions of UCX have integrated NTP support, and there is no
need for external or additional software.

As mentioned elsewhere, also please acquire and install the most recent
UCX release and the associated ECO kit.
