Local TCP/IP (UCX) SLIP from OpenVMS VAX V6.2?

» close window

The Question is:

I have OpenVMS 6.2 on a MicroVAX3100,and UCX 4.0.
I try to make a SLIP connection to Internet,
but I could not found the setting information.
Please tell me how to set up SLIP on the VAX/VMS.

Thanks in advance,

Yuky Murakami

The Answer is :

SLIP is available via an external source for the connection, such as
a terminal server. A connection is established from the OpenVMS host
to the DECserver (or other terminal server) and SLIP is used for the
point-to-point portion of the connection. There is no support for a
SLIP connection via a directly-connected host serial line at present.

PPP is available with recent OpenVMS Alpha releases (V7.1 and later),
and a current version of TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS (UCX; V4.2 and
  later).

Any other existing discussions of SLIP and PPP support should be easily
located here (see 1479 as an existing example) in Ask The Wizard using
  the provided search tool.
