Shadow copy failures?

» close window

The Question is:

We are running a software evaluation at the moment with a pair of rented
Alphaserver 1000 4/233's. We have shadowed 2.1Gb Disks successfully across
the ethernet interconnect. However, when we try this with 9.1Gb DS-Rz40-VA's
the shadow copy operation fail
s at 79%, consistently. It is not a disk problem. Any help would be
appreciated.

The Answer is :

Please contact the customer support center for assistance.

This may be a known and resolved problem that involves the application of
an ECO kit -- there are ECO kits available for shadowing -- or it may be
some other problem. (There is insufficient information available here to
determine the particular problem(s) that have arisen -- this could be a
problem with shadowing, with some other component, with the disk hardware
or firmware revision, or with the Ethernet communcations.

Shadowing across Ethernet will be limited by the bandwidth of the Ethernet,
and will likely be insufficient for many users -- the Wizard would tend to
prefer to see multi-host SCSI and/or Fast Ethernet and/or FDDI used for
this configuration, and not 10base Ethernet.
