Looking for specific ECO kit names?

» close window

The Question is:

In a response to another users request for information about bugs with the
VAXSHAD09_U2055 patch required with the VAXY2K01_U2055 patch, you told them
to get the F11XQP and RMS patches. Do these have more specific names, such
as the VAXSHAD09_U2055, so t
hat I have something more substantial to search for in the Compaq web pages?

The Answer is :

The names of the F11XQP ECOs all start with "VAXF11X" and the RMS ECOs
with "VAXRMS". For Alpha replace "VAX" with "ALP". The remainder of the
string indicates the revision and OS version the ECO applies to. In
general, the Wizard does not specify revisions since the ECO may be
updated between the time the ECO is recommended and the time you read
the Wizard's reply and want to retrieve the kit.

If you don't mind copying files from the other side of the planet,
the following URL can be use to search for ECO kits (note, it's a bit
of an odd URL, you will need to type the whole string into your browser
  exactly as it appears here):

    http://ftp.digital.com.au/cgi-bin/grep

In the "search string" box, enter all or part of the name of the ECO
you are looking for. It will find any matching files. Be warned though,
DO NOT enter generic strings like "VAX" or "VMS" or you'll be waiting
quite a while for the download!

In your case, enter "VAXF11X", look down the list for your OS version
and take the latest applicable revision.

A search string such as "eco:vaxf11x**" can also be used to search for
a group of kits via the http://www.service.digital.com/ website search
tool -- the "eco:vaxf11x**" string will locate all ECOs with a name
  with the specified prefix.

Also available are the consolidated ECO kit distributions, which can
be ordered under the following part numbers:

      QT-3CQAA-C8 OpenVMS Alpha
      QT-3CRAA-C8 OpenVMS VAX
