Assigning second channel to terminal?

» close window

The Question is:

I need to modify a watchdog program that runs and kills processes to send a
sequence of characters that will be enterpreted by the Emulator being used
by the user. By sending this escape sequence/command, the emulator will
close itself. The point being
that confidential information may not be left on the screen after the
watchdog program kills the process on the Server side. I tried
reply/term=,but this does something to the escape sequence that makes it
change somehow so that it does not work. I am a
lso trying a fortran program with Sys$assign and a Sys$qio call, but a can't
assign a channel to the terminal cause it is already assigned.

I need to write to this terminal screen without any filtering of the message
I send. The process I will send this from, will have any privlege required
at its disposal.

Thanks Alot,

The Answer is :

If you need to alter the contents of the terminal display, write the
escape sequence(s) necessary before issuing the $delprc. In other
words, $assign a channel to the target using SHARE privilege, write
the escape sequence, deassign the channel, then issue the $delprc.
