Y2K and OpenVMS V6.1? (FAQ)

» close window

The Question is:

I would like to know if OpenVMS version 6.1 is Year 2000 compliant. I am
assuming that it is since previous versions and later versions are, but I
would like to verify this and have so far been unable to find the
information in the OpenVMS webpages, or in
the FAQ. In fact, I have not had much luck at all in finding any
information about version 6.1. I cannot test this particular system by
re-setting the clock since it is in production and I have no other systems
that are running 6.1 that I can test to ens
ure that it is in fact compliant. Is there any documentation on 6.1
available in regards to Year 2000?

Thank you.

The Answer is :

The Wizard had thought the OpenVMS FAQ section "Y2K1. Does OpenVMS have
a problem with the year 2000?" was quite clear on this topic. Apparently
not. There is no Y2K kit for V6.1, and there are no plans for one.

The availability of "Prior Version Support" contracts for V6.1 ended in
April 1998, with the recommendation to upgrade V6.1 systems to V6.2 or
to a later release made at that time.
