Setting up print queues? (LN03+, HP, IP)

» close window

The Question is:

We have a Digital LN03 plus printer that we wish to use on our VAX. It was
formerly set up to work with a LN03R Postscript printer.
How do I set it to use the LN03?

Also we want to send the output to file in PS format and then print it out
on PS printer on the network via TCP/IP. This printer is a HP Laser Jet 5M.
How can I do this?

I do not know too much about VAX systems, so please try to keep the answer
on a newbie level.

Thanx
Chris

The Answer is :

The LN03+ is not a Postscript printer, you will need a converter and
you will likely not be using DCPS -- DCPS is needed for the Postscript
communications used with the LN03R -- to access the LN03+ printer.

Setting up serial printers and print queues is covered in the OpenVMS
  System Management Essentials documentation.

Setting up a network connection to the HP LaserJet 5M (a Postscript
printer) is available via recent versions of DCPS, as well as via
non-Postscript queues using a NIC or a LATprint associated with the
target printer. Information on setting up IP-based print queues is
covered in detail in the TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS documentation.
