DECnet Proxy Problems?

» close window

The Question is:

FAL obj on both alpha and vax. What is the correct set up for this obj? If
you do a netconfig the fal obj is not a default yes and when you answer yes
it sets it up with user name, password but proxy to other systems don't work
correctly.

The Answer is :

"Don't work correctly" is not a problem statement the Wizard can
work with in any particular detail.

You should not have to do anything to configure the FAL object,
beyond using the associated network configuration tool used to
set up DECnet. (This involves the use of NETCONFIG on DECnet
Phase IV, and NET$CONFIGURE on DECnet-Plus.)

That proxies are not working points to a problem associating
the remote username with the local (proxy) username, or that you
are not connecting to the expected node, or other network or proxy
configuration problem. The Wizard recommends enabling and using
security alarms, to determine if this is a case where the remote
node is not mapped to the local node name, if the proxy databases
(NETPROXY.DAT and NET$PROXY.DAT) are correctly located and accessable,
etc. The security messages will point to the name of the source node
  and username, etc.
