The Question is: Running VMS 5.5-2 up to 7.1. Am looking for a way to check what version of software (Fortran, C++, C, SLS, DCPS, ...) is loaded so I can check it off against the database as Y2K-OK. The only thing I could think of was seeing what release notes are in sy s$help (which may or may not be the version running). Looked at some of the programs like SLS but there is no 'show version' command. Same with vmslicense.com...no info. Any help would be appreciated. The Answer is : There is no reliable mechanism available on OpenVMS VAX, beyond looking for release notes files in SYS$HELP:. On OpenVMS Alpha, the PRODUCT SHOW PRODUCT, VMSINSTAL.HISTORY, and the release notes files in SYS$HELP: are options.
