Restricting files visible via NFS?

» close window

The Question is:

We have successfully set up NFS between our Alpha machine and Win95 NFS
clients (Using WRQ Reflection). We've made the necessary exports in UCX to
allow each user to see their own directory on the Alpha and have made
permanent drive mappings in Windows.

How can we restrict the file types that each user can see under that drive
in Windows? For example, we really only want to let them see *.lis or *.fin
report files rather than everything the directory contains.

Thanks in advance.

The Answer is :

NFS is a block-serving file access protocol, with no particular features
intended to restrict access to specific file types.

If you really want only a subset of files, you are left to try using
file protections or -- more obviously -- only map directories containing
  the desired set of files.

Please contact a Microsoft Windows Wizard or the WRQ Refections Wizard
for assistance with the capabilities of the products in question.
