Remote terminal access via LAT or Telnet?

» close window

The Question is:

We currently connect to a remote VAX using WIN95 PC's running Telnet
sessions in VT220 emulation over a TCP/IP frame relay connection.
We wish to switch from PC's to dumb terminals over a term server.
Can you give a breif, beginners overview of what is needed?

The Answer is :

This is not an OpenVMS question.

You need one or more terminal servers capable of telnet operations,
the terminal(s), and an appropriate stack of wires and adapters.
Most current terminal servers are capable IP protocols such as
Telnet, and many are also capable of LAT-based connections. If
you wish to have your terminals located remotely from the terminal
servers, you will need modems and telephone lines.
