Configuring TCP/IP default route (gateway)?

The Question is:

 
We are trying to configure TCP/Ip on an Alpha running UCX TCP/IP version
v4.1 to work with a router.  The Cicso router has two segments:  One handles
all of our PC equipment, the 60 segment, the other handles our VAX, the 61
segment.  We have a VAX 4300 o
n the VAX segment of the router and we are able to ping and communicate with
it from the PC side (The VAX is running Wollongong TCP/IP).  We used the
UCX$CONFIG to setup the IP parameters in the Alpha but did not see anywhere
to establish the gateway (or
router) address.
 
VAX 4300 has address of xxx.xxx.61.20
Router has port 1 address of xxx.xxx.61.1
Router has port 0 address of xxx.xxx.60.1
Alpha has address of xxx.xxx.61.30
 
We can ping from the Alpha and get any of the 61.x items including the
router.  We can ping from a PC on the 60 segment and get the VAX at the
61.20 address but not the Alpha.  We try to ping from the Alpha anything on
the 60 segment and get "remote node
is not currently reachable".
 
What steps do we need to go through to get this working correctly?
 
 

The Answer is :

 
  Please upgrade to TCP/IP Services with V4.2, with the current ECO applied.
 
  One of the typical ways to configure a gateway in TCP/IP Services is via
  the SET ROUTE/GATEWAY/PERMANENT option.  More commonly however, the
  UCX$CONFIG or TCPIP$CONFIG configuration command procedure is used, and
  a default route (gateway) is specified.
