Deleting Process in LEF State?

» close window

The Question is:

Is there a way to release a process, that is suspended in an LEF state
waiting for the tape drive, other than rebooting?

BTW - The unload button on the tape drive was pressed and the tape was
unloaded in the middle on an backup.

The Answer is :

LEF (Local Event Flag Wait) processes can generally be stopped,
using STOP/ID or similar command from a suitably privileged u
  sername.

Processes stuck in resource wait or mutex states can sometimes
be freed using DECamds -- these processes can be more difficult
to delete, as they are typically waiting for a system event.

Invalid ownership of tape devices -- devices owned by deleted
processes -- can often be cleared using tools available at the
  service website.

Rebooting will clear a variety of problems.
