DECnet NETERR and LINKDISCON errors, CLUEXIT?

» close window

The Question is:

Environment: 2 node CI cluster

Problem: One of the cluster member (node A)
keep kicking user out with the following error
message

%REM-F-NETERR, DECnet channel error on remote terminal link
-SYSTEM-F-LINKDISCON, Network partner disconnected logical link

Yesterday nite, the other cluster member (node B)
crashed with CLUEXIT bugcheck. According to the
crash dump, it looks like that node A were
having problem communicating with the cluster at
the time of crash. Could "DECnet channel error"
be the cause of the DECnet communication timeout?

The Answer is :

Clean out the cruft in MODPARAMS.DAT and AUTOGEN the system with FEEDBACK.
Determine that the PAGEFILE and SWAPFILE are appropriately sized. Also
determine if the quotas on the target username are set to values at least
as high as those of SYSTEM, and consider setting them as high as the UAF
quota values listed in the OpenVMS manuals for the BACKUP username.

Please contact the Compaq Customer Support Center for assistance in
investigating the cause of the system crash.
