Configuring LPR printing on OpenVMS?

» close window

The Question is:

Please advise us on how to print to a NT
networked HP printer from Open VMS 7.1 with
UCX 4.2. Both systems deploy TCP/IP.
Thanks in advance.

The Answer is :

For the OpenVMS requirements, please see:

    http://www.openvms.digital.com:8000/72final/6526/6526profile_028.html#part6

For Microsoft Windows NT LPD configuration requirements, please contact a
  Microsoft Windows NT Wizard.

Depending on the particular printer hardware, many recent printers support
a NIC (Network Interface Card) and can be accessed directly from OpenVMS
and from other platforms without requiring host printing services. The
use of a local area network and a Printer NIC can often simplify printing
requirements and configuration -- each host directly accesses the printer.

For printing Postscript files from OpenVMS, please acquire and load the
  DCPS package.

For specific discussions of blank pages on HP printers, please see various
previous discssions here in Ask The Wizard.
