SCSI resets, mount verification?

» close window

The Question is:

SCSI CLUSTERS

We have a 3-node SCSI Cluster consisting of 2
AS1200s and an AS4100. We are using a SCSI hub
which connects into an ESA1000 Storageworks
array containing RZ29 ultra-scsi disks.

We have noticed that when we reboot a node in
the cluster we have mount verifications on the
disks, presumably because of an interrupt on
the bus. We are also noticing mount
verifications throught the day for no apparent
reason.

Is there a workaround to this, do we have a
configuration issue or is this normal !

The Answer is :

SCSI resets during system reboots are normal and documented behaviour.
(This is the reason why tapes are not permitted on shared SCSI buses.)

Transient mount verifications can arise for various reasons, but
typically involve SCSI configuration issues or problems. Occasionally,
software can be involved -- confirm that all mandatory ECO kits have
  been applied to the system.

Please contact your hardware support vendor or the Compaq Customer
Support Center for assistance confirming the validity of your SCSI
  bus configuration.
