TCP/IP NFS Client and Filename Casing?

» close window

The Question is:

We mount a Unix file system to our Alpha using the command $UCX MOUNT.....
How can we get UCX to ignore SRI mapping rules and allow the files
Lower, lower and LOWER to appear from VMS as being 3 verions of LOWER.; ?
At the moment the file names get converted to $L$OWER.; LOWER.; and $LOWER.;

We want to compile on a VMS system code that is stored on a Sun Solaris.

Thank you.

The Answer is :

  OpenVMS TCP/IP Services can be set to permit (serve) the Unix file naming
  convention, or the OpenVMS file naming convention -- the OpenVMS file
  naming convention assumes (requires) that all file names be in uppercase
  only. OpenVMS applications themselves assume uppercase file names.

  If you have -sensitive file names and are using the OpenVMS TCP/IP
  Services NFS client, the OpenVMS Wizard would recommend switching to
  file names that are not case-sensitive.
