Changes in screen layout after OpenVMS upgrade?

» close window

The Question is:

We recently upgraded from V6.1. We have a few .coms that display boxes
around a menus. They no longer display properly on the screen. The boxes
are broken and it looks like there is an extra character moving the screen
layout off the screen. I cannot
find any documention on V6.2 that helps me with this. Can you point me in
the right direction?

The Answer is :

With no example of exactly what you are doing, it is difficult to provide
any specific suggestions or point to a solution.

The OpenVMS Wizard will assume the command procedures use WRITE and similar
commands, and generates escape sequences and characters from the
line-drawing character set. The OpenVMS Wizard will further assume these
are VT series terminals, and not terminal emulators or DECterm terminals.
(Or if these are terminal emulators, that the terminal emulator package
was itself not upgraded or otherwise altered. If DECterm, check to see
if DECwindows was upgraded, and check for available ECO kits for the
version of DECwindows in use.) If these assumptions hold, then consider
enabling a mechanism in the terminal to display controls, and to perform
some basic debugging to determine exactly what is going on. (Many VT-series
terminals will provide at least a "display controls" option in the setup.)

If you wish to pursue this, please contact the Compaq Customer Support
Center. Expect to be asked for details of the problem, and for an example
  or reproducer.
