» close window

The Question is:

I am still have problems with a blank page being printed at the begining of
a print job for a HP 4000n printer.

I have tried using <ESC>P my codes <ESC>\, but the <ESC>P only prints a
smal 2 and a check. I also tried the VMS;2 but that was passed to the
printer also and the printer printed VMS;2.

Software versions and queue init string follows:

We are using:
DIGITAL TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS Alpha Version V4.2
  on a AlphaServer 4100 5/400 4MB running OpenVMS V7.1-1H2

Queue Init String:

$ INITIALIZE /QUEUE /PROCESSOR=ucx$TELNETSYM -
  /library=hp4000/form=HP4000_portrait -
  /default=(feed,form=hp4000_default) -
  /ON="198.60.187.239:9100" Darryl

Many Thanks

The Answer is :

As a first step, the OpenVMS Wizard would recommend the application of
the available ECO kit for the version of TCP/IP Services in use, or an
upgrade to a more recent version of TCP/IP Services (with ECO kit, as
  appropriate).

If the ECO and the previous discussions on this topic here in Ask The
Wizard (see topic 1020 in particular) do not point to a solution for
your situation (including the discussions around ensuring the current
firmware for the particular printer), please contact the Compaq Customer
  Support Center directly.

As for some of the various discussions of the HP LaserJet 4000 series
printers, please see following topics here in Ask The Wizard:

    1020, 1429, 1797, 2276, 2418, 2715, 2770, 2782, 3385, 3540

The former topic is likely the best starting point for most questions
involving printing on these and other HP printers.
