Y2K Readiness? (Oracle CDD, Compaq DATATRIEVE)

» close window

The Question is:

I have upgraded a Vax Openvms 7.1 +y2k patch.
It currently runs DTR 5.1 and CDD 5.0.
We want to upgrade and make both products y2k compliant.
I have looked for tables to show what is supported under vms 7.1 My problem
is finding compatibility and y2k readiness
of dtr and cdd, becuase cdd is not a digital product anymore.
The latest version I have of each is dtr 6.1a and cdd 5.3a.
I can get a later version of dtr, say 7.2 but I can't see if cdd 5.3a, last
version from digital,
are compatible.
I don't want to have to purchase cdd from Oracle, as that would cost an aram
and a leg.
I also believe the earliest y2k compliant DTR is v7.2
Can you clarify y2k compliancy and also the issue of product compatibility.
Thanks,
Steve Smith

The Answer is :

CDD is now an Oracle product. If you do not wish to purchase an Oracle
version of this package and if Oracle does not indicate the Y2K readiness
of the particular version of interest, you will likely want to perform an
evaluation of the Y2K compatibility of the current environment -- a test
that the OpenVMS Wizard strongly recommends, regardless of any reported
Y2K readiness status for any product.

Y2K Product Readiness information on Compaq OpenVMS products is
available via web sites referenced in the OpenVMS Frequently Asked
Questions (FAQ). When evaluating the Y2K readiness of any particular
product, always remember to look for and check any "prior version" link
that might be present for a particular product -- this link can point
to information on the Y2K readiness status of earlier product versions.
