Sending Mail From An Application?

The Question is:

 
If possible, how can I send E-mail from my own C/C++ background application
on an OpenVMS/Alpha system?
 
 
 

The Answer is :

 
  Via the callable mail API would be the typical choice of the OpenVMS Wizard.

  There are examples of using the MAIL API at various sites around the 'net.
  One such example is on the OpenVMS Freeware, in the directory SRH_EXAMPLES,
