DECnet NCP EXECUTOR version string?

» close window

The Question is:

We just upgraded from vax vms 7.1 to 7.2 and installed DECnet phase IV. I
have a question on your response to question 373 on April 27 1999 concerning
DECnet versions. You stated "The version identification string for the
DECnet
  Phase IV V7.2 kit correctly displays V7.2.)"

Are you certain that this was corrected in the V7.2 upgrade kit?

I am concerned because after installing DECnet phase IV during the V7.2 VMS
upgrade the version identification string does NOT correctly display V7.2 it
still displays V7.1

$ mcr ncp show executor

State                    = on
Identification = DECnet for OpenVMS VAX V7.1

  I know you don't want to cover old ground but I would appreciate hearing
from you.

The Answer is :

  On one local OpenVMS V7.2 Cluster, the DECnet Phase IV is installed on
  both OpenVMS VAX and on OpenVMS Alpha systems. The identification is:

Identification = DECnet for OpenVMS AXP V7.2

Identification = DECnet for OpenVMS VAX V7.2

  That said, the displayed version string is not particularly critical,
  nor even particularly relevent. If you find this display troublesome,
  you can alter it with the SET and the DEFINE EXECUTOR IDENTIFICATION
  commands in NCP.
