DECnet-Plus Cluster Alias?

» close window

The Question is:

We have the following configuration:
- 2 AlphaServer DS20
- OpenVMS V7.1-2
- VMS Cluster
- Decnet-Plus V7.1-ECHO4
- UCX V4.2-21

We cannot use the Cluster Alias Feature.
Is there any solution (without using a Vax or a Router ?)

Thank you for your help.
Regards.

The Answer is :

Your statement "we cannot use the Cluster Alias Feature" does not
indicate the particular problem that you are encountering.

The OpenVMS Wizard will assume this is a licensing issue.

In this configuration, the DECnet-Plus license PAK DVNETEXT (for
DECnet-Plus on OpenVMS Alpha) or DVNETRTG (for OpenVMS VAX) will
be required for support of the cluster alias.

Use of the cluster alias typically requires the presence of a router.
(DECnet-Plus does supports host-based routing, which is useful for
  the cluster alias feature.)
