Effects of Deletion of SYSDUMP.DMP?

» close window

The Question is:

I accidentally deleted SYS$SYSTEM:SYSDUMP.DMP.

What do I need to do to get it back?

Will it be automatically "resurrected" next time I reboot?

The Answer is :

The file will be held open automatically and no particularly untoward
effects will arise. You will need to create a new version of the file
using SYS$UPDATE:SWAPFILES.COM (if necessary), reboot, and perform an
ANALYZE/DISK/REPAIR after the reboot to recover the storage held by
the older version. You will probably also want to clean out files
found in [SYSLOST] -- moving or deleting as appropriate -- after the
  repair pass has completed.
