DECserver IBM TN3270 terminal Connections?

» close window

The Question is:

Currently our SNA server is located on a NT server. Users connect to IBM
main-frame via IP and over LAN using (tn3270) emulation program on (windows
based) PC's. Our remote sites uses VT5XX terminals, having a serial
connection to our Alpha 4100 OpenVMS 7
.1 by decservers 900. We would like these terminals also to be able to
connect directly to IBM main-frame using our SNA server.

Is it possible to connect a terminal session to an IBM mainframe by making a
tn3270 session to a local SNA server (on NT server)

$ tn3270 129.1.1.1 (where 129.1.1.1 is the IP address of the NT server where
SNA server is active)

Which other options/possibilities do we have?

Many thanks,

Niclas

The Answer is :

Questions on DECserver capabilities on 3270 terminal networks --
configurations that do not involve OpenVMS -- are outside the area
of expertise of the OpenVMS Wizard.

Please contact Compaq Customer Support for assistance in determining
the available and the most appropriate options.

Various versions of the software and hardware for certain models
of the DECserver 900 series devices do have 3270 support. This
  would permit direct access.

One approach involving OpenVMS would be the SET HOST/TN3270 command.
