DECwindows Crash during LOGIN? (INVEXCEPTN)

» close window

The Question is:

When logging in to a DecWindows console (connected directly to
the AlphaServer1200), if we hit the backspace key more times
than text exists in the login or password field, the AlphaServer crashes.

It does a memory dump, and then reboots.

Bugcheck code = 000001CC:INVEXCEPTN, Exception while above ASTDEL
ImageName = DECU$SERVER_MAIN.EXE

Thanks, Mr. Wizard!

The Answer is :

  On little evidence, this would appear to be a known problem with
  SYS$IKBDRIVER.EXE.

  Please apply the available OpenVMS ECO kits (particularly for the
  DECwindows-related device drivers), Open3D drivers (if applicable
  to the particular graphics controller in use) and (particularly)
  the available DECwindows ECO kits.

  If the kits do not resolve this, please contact the Compaq Customer
  Support Center for assistance.
