Problems changing nodename and address? (TCP/IP)

» close window

The Question is:

Was recently upgraded from DECnet Phase IV to Phase V. Every time I change
the DECnet node name and node number on a newly installed machine (image
copy of a currently running MicroVAX, same model as the new one). I run
NETCONFIG (Phase IV) or NET$CONFI
GURE to change these values, then run MC SYSGEN and change them in scsnode
and scssystemid, then reboot. After the reboot, all TCP/IP connectivity
disappears (cannot even ping the box). The host name defined earlier using
UCX$CONFIG is the same as the n
ew node name I am trying to configure. I read FAQ on how to change the node
name, but see nothing on how to change node number/address. HELP!!

The Answer is :

The OpenVMS Wizard would recommend performing the NETCONFIG or NET$CONFIG
pass and the UCX$CONFIG or TCPIP$CONFIG pass in the context of the target
system -- and not on another system. (This will ensure that the device
names and other system-specific configuration details are correct for the
  target system.)
